The Grooming Process
First your dog will get a thorough check all over to assess their coat condition and check for any matted areas or health problems

Your dog will be given a full bath with two shampoo treatments and a condition treatment to ensure the coat is completely clean.
If being hand stripped, this will happen before the bathing process. They will be given a cool bath using a mild shampoo.

After the bath the dog is dried first using a towel, then our hand dryers. They may then finish off drying using the cabinet dryer.
Once fully dried the dog is clipped, scissored and any finishing touches completed. Or if just having a trim and tidy up they will be brushed and combed through. They will also have their nails clipped if necessary.

Adrienne completed the city & guilds dog grooming course at canine design academy of grooming in January 2011 and has been grooming dogs full time at Doggy Doos ever since. She was awarded a certificate of excellence in kind handling and is very patient with dogs who may find the grooming process a bit stressful. She is experienced with all breeds for grooming. Adrienne also provides home boarding for our day care customers. Adrienne is the mother to Marsha and 4 other daughters. She also has her own Papillon called Duggy and a miniature dachshund called Apple. She also has ponies, a sheep, a goat and several chickens.
The time it takes to groom your dog will vary on a number of factors. Dogs breed, coat condition, dogs age and temperament and how frequently they are groomed.If your dog is matted we may not be able to give you the look you desire for your dog as their comfort and welfare is most important to us.If your dog meets our day care requirements they will be allowed to go out to play for half of the day before they are groomed. With the grooming service we do include day care and the pick up and drop off at no extra cost but you are also welcome to bring the dog to us and pick them up again when they are finished.
Your dog will be given a thorough visual health check followed by the coat being brushed, clipped of hand stripped before having a relaxing massage and shampoo in the bath. They will then get towel dry and next, a hand blow dry using our high velocity blaster. If they do not enjoy the blaster they will get a further rub down and towel dry taking time to ensure the dog is happy with the process. Again if the dog is happy with it (the majority love it) they will be dried further in our top of the range cabinet dryer. Many dogs go to sleep during this part and some scratch at the door to be let in. Once they are fully dry they get a further brush out, de matt, scissoring and trim as needed. They will also have their feet and pads trimmed and tidied if necessary. They will also have their nails trimmed. Included also can be ear plucking and cleaning and other special requests.
Please note that the odd knot of tangle is not a problem but if the coat is matted and you are unable to get a wide tooth comb through the coat your dog may require time consuming de-matting which is unfair to the dog. Legally we are only allowed to de-matt a dogs coat for a maximum of 20minutes under dog welfare guidelines so not to cause unnecessary stress on the dog as the matts pull on the dogs skin and can bruise it easily. If this is the case we will be forced to clip the coat off completely. Additional charges may apply if the dog is badly matted as it may require additional staff to help and extra wear and tear on our equipment.If the dog has fleas there will be an additional charge of £5-15 to cover the cost of flea shampoo and to flea bomb our premises.If the dog is aggressive or difficult to handle it may require additional staff so there may be an additional charge.All prices are subject to change and are an estimate only. We can only give an actual cost when your dog has been groomed so please bear this in mind.Our price is based on dog breeds but if your dog is a crossbreed it will be based on whichever breed they take after most. Prices will also vary by desired style and how frequently your dog comes for grooming.
